The Sabah Cabinet has approved 24-hour operations for Sepanggar Bay Container Port (SBCP) to ease congestion, but full implementation depends on readiness across depots, factories and government agencies. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick is leading a task force to coordinate 10 interim measures—such as a temporary trailer parking zone at KKIP—while the SBCP expansion (68.1% complete) targets October 2027 completion. Sabah handled 532,391 TEU in 2025 (SBCP 74.6%) and 416,854 TEU in the first nine months of this year. The state has introduced more flexible KKIP land-lease terms and a pilot financing guarantee scheme to support local investors. From Sept 2020–Jun 2026, Sabah secured RM25.59 billion in manufacturing approvals (9,157 jobs); targets include raising manufacturing GDP to RM7.5–8.0 billion and attracting RM8–10 billion in new investment. Major projects include Esteel green steel and PFLNG 3 (online Q4 2027). Sabah is also planning new industrial zones and a transport and logistics master plan with RM500.1 million support to improve connectivity.
