Malaysia is well-positioned to withstand external shocks in 2027 thanks to a diversified economy, resilient exports and stronger fiscal buffers, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said. While geopolitical tensions and shifting trade patterns remain risks, Malaysia’s broadened industrial base—including electronics, semiconductors, data centres and advanced manufacturing—and diversified export markets reduce reliance on any single sector. The government is strengthening domestic supply chains, mobilising private capital (including GLICs) alongside public funds, and using targeted financing measures to protect supply security. Reforms to public finances and robust approved investments (RM431.8 billion last year) boost the country’s capacity to respond to disruptions and support sustainable growth.
